Mud

Mud. I think the pictures speak for themselves. Seven neighborhood kids and a big muddy ditch. It was lovely! Aaron had the sense to look at the mayhem and head straight in the door without getting involved. A wise choice since he hates getting dirty, hates getting wet, and can't stand being splattered or splashed. The other two had a blast, though!
I'll try to get Mardi Gras pictures up today or tomorrow.

Dog Parade

Yesterday was the dog Mardi Gras parade in downtown Baton Rouge. Julia really wanted to attend, well - to be IN the parade. It benefitted the local animal welfare group so it was for a good cause.
We took both dogs who were sporting Mardi Gras vests, beads, and bandanas. There were a million dogs in the parade and watching it. Dogs of all sizes and shapes. The amazing thing was they were all so well behaved. I didn't see a single dispute between dogs. We sat just watching all the dogs until it was time for the parade to roll. We managed to get in at the very end which was a good thing because we were able to skip out after about 20 minutes when the kids were done having fun. All in all it went well and the kids mostly had fun (aside from one 20 minute Alex fit concerning a sticker on his shirt). The dogs also enjoyed it and were quite well behaved.

So here's the latest version of the new addition. It's hard to get good light because it's too far for the flash.
#1 is looking into the new addition from the dining room. Having the wall removed makes a big difference. The opening is framed with big cypress beams. The color is
sort-of a brown/tan/goldish color. No floors, yet.
The cypress trees think it's spring, by the way.

Spring?

We are enjoying the goregous weather! 75 degrees is a much welcomed change!
Here is a picture of Alex sporting the last of our carrot crop. He loves to pick the carrots.
The girls (Julia and her neighbor/friend Katie) swam in the pond, this weekend, and froze to death but just HAD to try it. They spent the weekend catching bugs and wading in the bog area.
We went to the LSU vet school open house where Aaron FINALLY got to wear "the long glove" and stick his hand in the side of a cow. They keep these "fistulated" cows for research but you can stick you hand in their gut and see what they have just eaten. Lovely. He was all over it!
We also mostly finished the new addition. Now just a little trim-work and a floor and we'll be done. It looks great so far and adds a ton of space. I'll try to get a good picture, today, in the daylight.
